Brawl Stars parental controls: Supercell ID, purchases and play time

Supercell ID on the parent's email

Supercell recommends that parents create a Supercell ID for their child using the parent's email address. Signing in then needs a code from an email that arrives in your inbox, so your child can't sign in on another phone without it.

The same Supercell ID lets you see your child's friend list. Supercell says why: so you can check that your child plays with people they know. That sign-in is also required for the Supercell Store, so purchases there go through your account.

Chat and teams

Team chat messages pass through an automatic filter, and how strict it is depends on the player's age. Younger players can join Family Friendly Teams, where the filter is stricter.

If someone sends your child something unpleasant, the message can be reported from inside the game. Supercell says the person who files the report stays anonymous.

Purchases: lock them on the phone

Supercell names the most reliable method itself: if no card is saved on your child's phone, nothing can be bought. If a card is linked to the Google account, turn on purchase authentication in Google Play: Payments & subscriptions → Purchase authentication → For all purchases. Every gem purchase will then need a password or fingerprint.

If your child has already bought something by accident on Android, Supercell accepts refund requests. Write to support from inside the game or to parents@supercell.com.

Play time

Brawl Stars has no time limit. Supercell points parents to the phone's own settings and to third-party apps. There is also a last resort: a parent can ask Supercell to suspend the child's account for a while, which Supercell calls self-exclusion.

It works better to limit the game itself rather than the whole phone. In Gardion this is a separate app limit, for example an hour of Brawl Stars on school days, while calls and learning apps stay open.
