Gardion counts a minute only if your child moved the mouse or pressed a key in the last 60 seconds. A computer left switched on doesn’t use up the limit. Videos and music count too: while a browser or media player is playing sound, time keeps running without any input. A paused video doesn’t add time.

Not without you knowing. On Android, Gardion closes the system uninstall screen and notifies you right away. Only an app with system-level rights can block uninstalling completely; the next answers explain why.

The limit lives in the app itself, so the network has no effect on it and a personal VPN won’t lift it. On Android you get a notification when your child turns on their own VPN, and the “Filter over VPN” setting switches it off. On a PC, Gardion shuts down known VPN apps.

Every parental control app works with the rights the operating system gives it. On a phone without root, or on a computer where the child uses an administrator account, the child has at least as much power as the app. That is how Android and Windows are built, and it applies to every parental control app, ours included. Only a change in how the system itself is set up takes that power away.

Give your child a standard Windows account. Keep an administrator account with a password for yourself. Microsoft recommends the same split: administrator rights for parents, standard accounts for children. On a standard account your child can’t remove Gardion or change system settings. Only an app with system-level rights, root or device owner mode, can block uninstalling for good. Gardion works without either, like almost every app in the stores. What it does instead is tell the parent when the child tries to revoke device administrator rights, when those rights are already gone, when the app is stopped by hand and when it starts again. Yes, like any parental control, if the child has system-level rights. We don’t hide that. What we promise is that you will know. The event log shows when control stopped working and why, and a manual stop sends you a notification. After a notification like that, talk to your child. On a computer Gardion works without a separate account too: it restores deleted files, makes its service hard to stop and tells the parent about tampering attempts. Still, the only reliable fix is a standard account for your child.

Open Gardion Kids on your child’s phone: the app shows what’s missing and walks you through the steps. What each alert means is explained on the help page. If the alerts keep coming, talk to your child and lock the settings sections where protection gets turned off. The child’s Android phones and tablets running Android 8.0 or later, and 64-bit computers with Windows 10 or 11. The parent sets everything up from their own Android phone (7.0 or later) or in a browser.

Yes. Gardion adds its own Microsoft Defender exclusions. Kaspersky, Dr.Web, ESET and Avast sometimes block a Gardion update from running. The panel then shows a card with the menu path for that antivirus, and the Help page lists the two folders to add to its exclusions.

Not yet. Gardion currently works on Android and Windows. A parent with an iPhone can set the rules in the web dashboard in a browser.

Gardion Family goes on the parent’s phone, Gardion Kids on the child’s device, and they link with a code. Google Play does not offer Gardion in the EU and the UK; there, install the APK from this site. The step-by-step guide with real screenshots is on the installation page.

You remove it from the parent dashboard. The phone itself will not let you: the app protects against removal, so opening the system uninstall screen closes that screen and sends you a notification, exactly as it would if the child were doing it. The phone cannot tell you apart from your child. Open the dashboard, delete that device from the list, and the phone receives a command: it lifts the locks, turns off device administrator rights and offers to uninstall itself, so all that is left is to tap OK. If the phone is switched off at that moment, the command arrives the next time it starts.

Yes, and it is the shortest way to change the product. Open “Support requests” in the app and press “Suggest an improvement”, or email app@gardion.io. Attaching a screenshot to a support request exists because one family asked for it.

If your child is under 13 and an overall limit is enough, Family Link will do. Gardion adds a Windows computer, movement breaks and alerts when your child tries to get around the rules. The side-by-side comparison is on the Android controls page.
