How we write our articles
The Gardion team writes the articles on our blog, and Aleksandr Popov signs them. Aleksandr built Gardion for his own son; that story is on the Who makes Gardion page. This page explains where our facts come from, when we revise an article, and how to report a mistake.
Where our health facts come from
We are not doctors or psychologists. When an article covers sleep, attention, anxiety, or heavy phone use, we summarize what doctors and researchers have published and link to every source. These are the sources we rely on most:
- The World Health Organization and its ICD-11 classification of diseases, which we use to explain what a gaming disorder diagnosis means.
- The American Academy of Pediatrics, including its parent site healthychildren.org and its guidance for pediatricians.
- The American Psychological Association
- The American Psychiatric Association
- The American Academy of Sleep Medicine: how much sleep a child needs at each age.
- The UK National Health Service
- The MedlinePlus medical encyclopedia
- The Public Health Agency of Sweden
- Peer-reviewed studies in journals such as Pediatrics, JAMA Pediatrics, PNAS, and Nature.
These articles end with a Sources section, so you can open each study and check what it says. When researchers disagree, we say so and present both sides. An article cannot diagnose or treat a child. If you are worried about your child’s health, talk to a doctor.
Setup guides
Our guides to Family Link, Windows, iPhone, game consoles, and games follow the official help pages from Google, Microsoft, Apple, and the game developers. Each link to a help page sits next to the step it supports. If we do not have a device, the article says so.
When an article describes Gardion, it describes what the app does today. The screenshots come from our own devices.
When an article changes
Phone makers change their settings, services rewrite their rules, and new studies come out. When that happens, we revise the article, and the date under the headline changes to “Updated” with the day of the revision.
Found a mistake?
Email app@gardion.io with the article, the sentence, and the source that says otherwise. Aleksandr reads these emails. We fix the mistake in the article itself and update the date.
