By default, almost any player can message your child in Roblox, and a parent usually never sees it: bright blocks on the screen, an open chat behind them.

Roblox itself now checks faces to estimate age and, in 2026, added separate accounts for younger children. With that, the company admits adults and kids were sitting in the same rooms. Only the settings a parent turns on actually help.

Almost any player can write to a child, and a parent rarely sees the conversation.

Millions of others’ worlds

Worlds are built by other users, and only some are for children. “Condo” worlds carry adult content past moderation.

Robux is real money

Everything runs on Robux, bought for real money. “Just 80 more Robux” pushes a child to the next purchase.

A full ban usually doesn’t work

Block Roblox completely and the child plays it at a friend’s house, and the ban turns into a fight. Boundaries hold better: a firm daily limit, a schedule, and a clear report of how long they already played.
